One of the most common question from cryptocurrency companies is whether or not they should be considering a blog on their website. It might sound like a no-brainer for some, while for others, the idea of maintaining a blog with regular content doesn’t sound like a business priority.

Neither are completely wrong, of course, but we believe that a crucial piece of the digital marketing puzzle is a well-thought out company blog that supports and strengthens any marketing effort for your brand — especially so for blockchain or crypto projects. We’ll tell you why.

If a website goes online but no one knows, does it exist?

You’re a cryptocurrency company, you’ve registered yourself as a legitimate business, you’ve opened all the social media accounts and you’ve built your website, so you’ve finally done it. You’re online, on the internet, on the web. You exist.

But not really. Sure, you’ve got all these places for people to find you and look up your services and information. You’ve got a great pitch deck to show off to. But the burning question remains: if people don’t know your website, how do they visit it, right?

The task is made all the more difficult when you’re in the blockchain or crypto industry, which is, arguably still far from being a persistent presence in mainstream consciousness. Yes, everyone knows about Bitcoin (everyone who reads news on the Internet every day, at any rate) but not everyone realizes there are businesses and projects out there like yours out there developing cutting-edge technology just begging for new users.

Thus the age-old online battle to get seen begins. But not to worry, you’re on the right track — your website and socials are probably the first ports of call for any potential customer online, but guess where they’re most likely to find you first?

A search engine. And visibility on search engines is chiefly through content on your website — which is where a native blog (that is, one hosted on the same domain as your website) comes in. The more blog content you create, the more opportunities you create to show up in search engines and attract organic traffic to your website.

All the good things

Articles that are relevant and original can include short tail keywords (simple phrases) in headings, and in the body can have long tail keywords (long form search phrases people naturally type in to search engines) that match well in search engines and put your website on search results.

It’s the perfect place to put all kinds of images and videos that can show up as meta images when the links are shared, attracting more visitors.

Blog posts are so useful for internal linking, pointing your customers to relevant and useful information in your blog (like this internal link that shows you the full range of Cryptomarketeer blockchain marketing services).

They are a really useful way to also help you build your email list (customer list) like how we’ve included a subscription form at the end of this blog post. Scroll down and check it out, and sign up if you like our content and want to be alerted when something new is published!

They also give you much better chances of social exposure — every blog post you create can be easily shared on Twitter, Facebook or other social media platforms if you set it up properly. What we’ve done is put the easy share links for Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn at the bottom of our blog. You never know when someone likes your content and shares it out to their network, increasing your brand exposure.

Finally, blogs are a great way to keep in touch with your customers, informing them of important updates and announcements in a way that is easily referenced, letting them know that you’re always ready to reach out and have a conversation.

If you’re still not convinced, then bear in mind that these days, customers actually expect companies to have a blog. According to the Content Marketing Institute, 79% of B2B companies and 70% of B2C companies have blogs, and it’s a number that’s only going to increase every year as more people turn to the web for content.

Now, we’ve spoken our mind about digital marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) in a previous blog post so we’re always promoting methods that build you organic traction and long-term results that are sustainable. Creating well-written, thoughtful, helpful and relevant blog content is very much part of our blockchain marketing service.
